Some people pick a lane. Joe Kelly Jr. paved his own road. The Ontario-based creative force has spent over two decades operating at the intersection of screen, stage, and studio — accumulating a body of work that refuses to be filed under any single category.

A graduate of the Musicians Institute's Recording Arts program in Los Angeles, Joe returned to Canada armed with elite studio chops and an artist's restless hunger. What followed was a career that sprawls — deliberately — across acting, songwriting, music production, engineering, and the kind of grassroots community work that doesn't make headlines but changes lives.

On screen, Joe brings a grounded intensity honed by over 20 years of on-camera experience across feature films, television, web series, and commercials. His credits include the cult-beloved Orphan Black and The Go-Getters — and this season he can be seen in Boston Blue — a résumé built scene by scene, project by project, on the strength of craft over shortcuts.

His musical journey is equally layered. As the lead songwriter and guitarist of Toronto indie rock outfit My Psycho Ex, Joe co-authored an electrifying body of work — including the band's explosive self-titled full-length record and the raw, driving Coyotes EP — that cemented his reputation as a writer with something real to say.

Now recording under his own name, Joe Kelly Jr. is stepping fully into the spotlight as a solo artist. Soulful, cinematic, and uncompromising, his solo work is where two decades of lived experience meet a songwriter at the height of his powers. Joined by Brazilian drummer and percussionist Marcelo Effori, the music crackles with warmth and depth — and right now, Joe is deep in production on a brand new full-length album. Consider this the calm before something extraordinary.

Behind the console, Joe is a professional recording, mixing, and mastering engineer and a seasoned producer for other artists. He brings the same exacting ear to everything he touches — whether that's shaping an emerging artist's sound or crafting the custom intro and outro music that gives a podcast its identity. With a cutting-edge portable studio and a philosophy that the best work happens where the artist feels most alive, Joe produces podcasts for clients who want more than just clean audio — they want a sonic world.

And when the sessions wrap, there is still the work that matters most. For nearly two decades, Joe has been a Key Artist with Keys To The Studio, a program dedicated to emerging musicians with developmental and intellectual disabilities — proof that his investment in sound has always been about people first.
